Tick, Tock...
Tick, Tock...
Early on in the process my mother’s manager tried to register her fingerprints with their clock-in and clock-out system. It was a low-end USB fingerprint scanner attached to a personal computer. This was the type of thing you can buy from Microsoft for about $50.00. They call it their “time system.” Apparently the company they get their software from charges almost $200.00 for the same scanner. (https://www.timetrex.com/store.php?product_id=47&step=hardware)
Her manager Harry was unable to get the system to register her fingerprints with the scanner. As a result of the scanner not working for my mother, she was told by Harry that he would log her hours on her behalf. When she questioned this, she was repeatedly told to trust Harry to record the time.
He apparently made partial attempts to do this which resulted in partial payment to my mother. I can only assume this however since she was partially paid without documentation for why or what the hours worked were.
We have requested this and at one point were even told that this would be sent to us. Sadly, this was just one more broken promise. (Update: Feb 2 - Hour total for each day were sent. Every day is short time. No times provided)
Having been around the block a few times and run a few businesses before, she was smart enough to keep a log of her hours on a set of 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper. She was running her own business when these guys were learning to walk.
Each sheet of her logs contains a table listing the hours she worked and the times. We provided this to them early in the process.
They key thing here is that their machine didn’t work.
This story and this site are a personal story about what I saw and heard during this time period and the experience I personally had in trying to get through to Sepia and help my mother get paid. There is certainly more to the story and I hope they will come forward with that side of the story. I for one would welcome an explanation. More importantly though, I hope they will just choose to pay my mother what is due to her. Before making any decisions about Sepia as a company you should search for other similar stories on the Internet and try to hear their side of this story as well. I’d be more than happy to post a link to any response they want to make. Since this site is being updated in real-time, some information may be out of date. Even when updates exist in one place, they may not have been posted in others.
